How it started

The history of bird's nest harvesting in Nha Trang dates back centuries, deeply rooted in local traditions. In 1328, Admiral Le Van Dat of the Tran Dynasty discovered the islands that were occupied by swifts among the Binh Khang region and so he was revered as the progenitor of this industry. It was not until a few hundred years later in around 1700s that another Admiral, called Le Thi Huyen Tram, recognized the economic benefits and started capitalizing on the bird's nest. Later when she passed away due to a civil war, the local citizens, out of respect, began to revere her as the Mother Goddess.
